Update has over 1000 subscribers and is a bulletin board for postings which are:

• News items and brief comments likely to be of interest to people in the AOD field
• Reviews of newly published work
• Brief summaries of conferences and meetings
• Announcements of meetings, forums, etc
• Press and media releases
• Questions seeking information
• Announcements of published reports, monographs, etc
• Notices drawing attention to new Web sites of relevance
• Positions Vacant notices
• Corrections of factual errors in these postings

Drugtalk

Drugtalk allows people to exchange opinions and to debate current issues. It has about 350 subscribers. Drugtalk is for postings which:

• Initiate or join the discussion of an AOD topic
• Express the opinion of the writer
• Debate an issue raised in discussion on the list
• Refute the argument others have expressed
• Take up issues raised in postings to UPDATE and extend them into topics for discussion or debate
• Provide the text of ‘letters to the editor’ published in newspapers
